Compact Membership

The Great Lakes Forest Fire Compact (GLFFC) is made up of 3 U.S. States and 2 Canadian Provincial Natural Resources agencies. They have created a formal association in order to promote effective prevention, pre-suppression and control of forest fires in the Great Lakes Region of the United States and adjacent areas of Canada.

Compact History

The GLFFC was created following the formation of both the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Commission and the Mid Atlantic Forest Fire Compact. All three compacts where formed following the disastrous fires in New England in the fall of 1946,

Significant Information, technology and physical resources are exchange within the Great Lakes Forest Fire Compact.
